Dear Parents/Caregivers

YEAR 6 STUDENTS’ TRANSITION INTO INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

As part of planning for 2024, the school is deciding about the programmes and subjects that will be offered in the intermediate school and beyond. To do so, we would like to have a face-to-face meeting with the current year 6 parents tomorrow, 9^th August 2023, between 2pm and 3.30pm in the school hall with the principal and relevant staff.   You will be able to look around the school and meet teachers.  Light refreshment will also be provided.

Year 1 & 2 Literacy Evening Details

Date: Week 5, Wednesday 16^th August 2023.

Time: 4-5pm. Venue: Year 1 hub–rooms AD1/2.

Years 1 and 2 parents and caregivers are invited to a literacy evening. The purpose of this event is to share some skills and activities which parents and caregivers can use and do at home with their child/children to help them to improve their reading and writing.

JUNIOR SOCCER

Jazaakallahu Khairan to all the parents and the members of the Junior Soccer Team for their support that helped AMS Team qualify to play in the champions league. They have done well in the season and lost one or two matches which they could have won. They will play tomorrow for 5^th & 6^th place against Sancta Maria A

YEAR 5 & 6 CAMP 2023

Jazaakallahu Khairan to all the staff for their effort and hard work at the year 5 and 6 camp. It was good to see our students participating in a variety of outdoor education activities. Eg. Outdoor survival, team building, abseiling, rock climbing, rocky shore exploration, canoeing, paddling, deep water survival etc.  Alhamdulliah the discipline and overall manners of students was exceptional which was complimented by the MERC organisers. Jazaakallah to the parents for your support.

UNIFORM

Students must come to school in proper school uniform from home.

SPECIAL CHARACTER TRAINNING

Year 13 boys will be going in Jamaat as part of their special character training.

REMINDER

ZUHAR/JUMMAH SALAH TIME AT AMS

Mon – Thurs 1.40pm – 2.00pm

Fridays – Jummah from 1.40pm – 2.15pm

Parents/caregivers are advised NOT to pick-up their child/children during the above times. If there is any urgent appointment during these timing, please pick them up before salah.

EARLY PICK-UP

It has been observed that some parents are picking-up their child/children early on a regular basis.  Please try to make appointments outside school hours.  If there is urgent appointment, please bring the appointment letter. There should be a genuine/good reason to pick-up your child/children during the day as they miss out on important learning.

KICK START BREAKFAST

Weet Bix is provided in school from 8.00am – 8.30am and at lunch time.  Please encourage your child to benefit from this programme.

Year 11 students Mathematics (MCAT) practice assessment.

12/09/23: from 9am to 10am.

Year 11 students Mathematics (MCAT) final exams.

31/10/23: Year 10 – NCEA corequisite reading.

01/11/23: NCEA corequisite writing.

02/11/23: NCEA corequisite numeracy.

12/09/23: to 22/09/23: Years 11-13 – NCEA

18/10/23: NCEA DCAT

06/11/23 to 28/11/23: NCEA and
