Dear Parents/Caregivers

CLASS RESHUFFLE

Currently, effort is being done to ensure most of the teachings, particularly in years 1 to 8, are conducted in HUBS at one year level. Hence, promoting ILE (Innovative Learning Environment). This means we have moved from a teacher single cell to at least two teachers working in a HUB with few teacher aides.

With the increased number of students and limited number of classrooms, the school is opting to re-introduce composite classes to better utilize its resources. With better distribution of students, we are looking forward to bringing about equity and equality in place, which will in turn bring about an enhanced and effective teaching resulting in higher achievements for students.

At this stage, we are going to combine years 9 and 10 girls’ classes which has 12 students each. This will make a class of 24 students. Similarly, we will be moving some of the year 4 students into year 5 class, some year 6 girls into year 7 class. Hence, we will have a composite class of years 4 and 5, 6 and 7, and 9 and 10.

Inshallah, we are drawing up procedures as per which students should be put into composite classes by consulting the staff and students. Parents and caregivers’ feedback is most welcome. Feedback to be sent to the principal via email:  principal@al-madinah.school.nz.

Islamic WEEK

Islamic week is in week 2 of Term 2.

There will be various activities done. More details will be sent later.

NCEA TEACHER ONLY DAY (TOD)

NCEA TOD will be on Monday 1st May in week 2 of Term 2.   All students from years 1 – 13 will stay home.

ATTENDANCE DUES

All attendance dues must be paid by or before end of Term 2.  The annual attendance dues for each child per year is $251.85.

PICK-UP AFTER SCHOOL

All students must be picked-up on time after school at 3.30pm from Monday to Thursday and 2.30pm on Fridays.  Please note that there will be no staff on duty after 3.45pm.  Those students who are not picked up time will need to wait in front of Rooms AD1 – AD3.

SECONDARY BOYS IFTAAR

This will be tomorrow (Wednesday 05th April) from 5.00 to 7.30pm for years 7B to 13B for boys only.

SUN HAT

School sunhats are now available at the school office. These will be sold for $15.00 each.

EID-UL-FITR HOLIDAY

On Monday 24th of April, (First day of Term 2) the school will be closed for Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration.

PUBLIC HOLIDAY

ANZAC Day on Tuesday 25th April.

TERM BREAK

The school finishes for Term 1 on Thursday 6th April at 2.30pm.

Term 2 starts on Wednesday 26th April 2023.
