Dear Parents/Caregivers

Assalaamu Alaikum WRWB

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Firstly, I hope we have all made the most of Ramadan and use the learning from Ramadan to look at how we carry on with our daily ibadah outside of Ramdan as well. I wish everyone a very happy Eid Mubarak.  Congratulations to Zaid Ahmad of Year 10 for winning the Apna 990am Ramadan Speech competition. Zaid Ahmad’s delivery and content was outstanding. I would like to thank Ustadh Sarfaraz for his coaching and mentoring in helping Zaid be a champion (across NZ and Fiji). As the term ends. I must thank my hardworking teaching staff, support staff and teacher-aides. I am extremely grateful for their continuous dedication to our school and students. I wish all the students and staff a very safe and restful break.

On behalf of Al-Madinah School, I bid farewell to Ramadan and wish everyone a joyous Eid filled with harmony, happiness, and memorable moments spent having fun with family and friends. Attendance

Students are legally required to attend school every day. Every single day counts towards your child’s learning at school and gives your child the best chance to gain qualifications and do well in life. As we enter Term 2, every day of school matters.

We are aware that children get ill over the course of the school year. Please continue to keep your child at home if they are unwell. This prevents the spread of bugs and ensures other students and staff remain healthy. Please remember to notify the office of any absence. If you’re struggling at home with getting your child to school, please talk to us! We are committed to supporting your child to attend school and building a culture that fosters excellent attendance.

Students Arriving Late

If your child arrives after the 8.30am bell, they must sign in at the office. Lessons start promptly after roll call and it is crucial that children are at school between 8.15-8.30am. Children arriving late is not only disruptive for them, but also the class teacher and other students.

Signing Out

In the event that you need to collect your child early from school, please ensure you first go to the office to sign them out. Your child will be called to the office for you. Please do not go directly to their classroom.

Where possible we also encourage you to make appointments outside of school time to avoid classroom disruption. We know this isn’t always possible but do appreciate the consideration.

JUNIOR BOYS CAMP

Years 7 to 10 boys will be going to Rotorua for their school camp, which is schedule for May 7th to May 9th, this camp offers an enriching educational experience filled with diverse activities and visits to notable sites. Designed to foster essential skills like teamwork, creativity, and environmental awareness, it promises valuable insights into New Zealand’s cultural and historical significance. From the Tree Walk at night to the Agrodome sheep show, Te Puia, Waimangu Volcanic Valley, and Paradise Valley, the itinerary is packed with exciting learning opportunities. The total cost per child is $195.00, covering meals, accommodation, activities, and transportation.

Parking

We are all very aware that traffic around school during drop-off and pick-up can be extremely hectic, particularly on rainy days. However, this does not mean the road rules suddenly become obsolete. Safety at the school gate is of paramount importance and every illegal manoeuvre puts our students, staff and other parents in danger. This includes parking on yellow lines and double parking.

We ask that you exercise patience and courtesy by parking legally. Please respect our neighbours; their driveways are not car parks. You are a role model for your child, so please set a positive example by adhering to the road rules and prioritising safety.
