TERM 3

Welcome back to all the staff & students and especially the new students and their parents and caregivers.  Term 3 targets are to ensure:

  1. All students are punctual to school.
  2. To develop confidence in students in giving dawat by engaging them into the discussion of the 6 qualities based on the special character of the school.
  1. Restart the ILM (knowledge) section into the AMS’ Darul Uloom. A survey will be sent shortly to gage the parents’ interest.

PARENT/TEACHER MEETING

Parent/Teacher meeting for years 1-13 is on Wed 26 July 2023 from 8.00am to 5.00pm.  This will be a whole day programme.  The students need to stay home and only come to school at the appointment time with their parents and go back with them.

PRIMARY CAMP

Year 5 and 6 students are going for 3 days camp at MERC in Browns Bay from 2nd to 4th August. The bus for the camp will leave at 7.30am on 2nd August.  Students are expected to be at school by 7.15am. The students will be back at school before 3.30pm on 4th August.

2023 MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS FOR THE AL-MADINAH SCHOOL BOARD

We are currently seeking candidates who are interested in being appointed as a member of the Al-Madinah School Board.

Al-Madinah School is a state integrated, composite, co-educational school for students in Years 1 to 15, established by the Islamic Educational and Dawah Trust. The purpose of the school is to nurture and develop the Islamic way of life through all learning experiences. The Islamic ethic is the basis for the school’s daily life and there is regular instruction and worship in the Islamic tradition. Al-Madinah School is situated at 8 Westney Road, Māngere, Auckland.

The Board’s constitution allows for up to five members Ministerial appointed members, appointed by the Director of Education, South/Southwest Auckland. The Board is a Crown Entity which is the employer of all school staff and sets the school’s overall direction. The overriding focus and primary duty of the Board is to have oversight of the quality of education that each of the school’s students receives to improve student outcomes.

Does this sound like you? Al-Madinah School needs a well-rounded board, with members who bring a balance of skills and experience, which should include the following:

  • A clear understanding of, and respect for, the special character of the school and a willingness to work to support this.
  • Highly developed relational skills.
  • The ability to work well in a team, with excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
  • An understanding of school governance systems and structures.
  • Sound judgement and a willingness to ask challenging questions.
  • Experience or knowledge in the areas of education, finance, property, human resources.
  • Prior school governance experience.

The term of appointment is for up to three years.

Please note that this statement will be included in the information which is presented to the Panel and then to the Director of Education, as part of the selection process.
