KIWI ENGLISH COMPETITION

Masha Allah and congratulations to the following students and their English teachers for commendable performance in Kiwi English Competition that was conducted by the University of Canterbury for Years 7-10 students:

BUSINESS STUDIES

Congratulations to one of the year 13 Business Studies groups from year 13g, team Yo-can for qualifying to receive YES Excellence Awards by Young Enterprise Scheme Tāmaki Makaurau.

CONSCIOUS KIDS: OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Years 1 – 4 will have outdoor education at the House Park across the school.  It’s a full day of activities from 9am till 2.30pm with morning tea and lunch break. The day will be full of hands-on learning in nature. Activities may include shelter construction, whittling, harakeke harvest and weaving, art activities, group games, and fire cooking, depending on the environmental conditions and interests of the children.

Please send your kids prepared in PE uniform, sports shoes, water bottle, school rain jacket also put spare clothes in their bags in case the weather changes and they get wet, and proper morning tea and lunch.  Please make sure they have a proper breakfast.

NETBALL TOURNMENT

Years 8-13 girls will be taking part in the IWCNZ netball tournament held at the Otara Leisure Centre on Saturday 28th October from 9am-4.30pm.

CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to AMS Cross Country Team for coming second in MOSA Competition.  Special thanks to the following students:

Khadijah Syed – Year 6: 1st

Ayaan Hussain – Year 6: 2nd

Overall, AMS came 2nd out of 12 schools.

REMINDERS

STUDY BREAK

Study break for years 11 – 13 (NCEA) students start on Wednesday 1st November 2023. Students must use the time to prepare/study for external exams.

END OF YEAR EXAMINATION (EOY)

End of Year Examination for years 7 – 10 will be in week 5 from November 6th – 10th.

TEACHER ONLY DAY (TOD)

TOD for NZC Refreshed Curriculum will be held on Tuesday 14 November 2023. In addition to having a special PLD on NZC, all teachers will be attending a special meeting at Bader Intermediate School from 12.30pm to 4.00pm hence the school will be closed for all students.

UNPAID ATTENDANCE DUES

All outstanding attendance dues must be paid immediately as the de-enrolment process will start soon.

Important dates for Years 10-13 students that parents can take note of when planning events and to help prepare their children for assessments.  The assessments will take place from 9.00am to 11.00am.

31/10/23: Year 10 – NCEA corequisite reading.

01/11/23: NCEA corequisite writing.

02/11/23: NCEA corequisite numeracy.

06/11/23 to 28/11/23: NCEA and

scholarship external exams

06/12/2023: Primary Award Assembly

07/12//2023: Secondary Award Assembly
