RETIREMENT – USTADHA GULSHAD KHAN

It is, indeed, with great sadness AMS is announcing the retirement of Ustadha Gulshad Khan who has been our Assistant Principal (AP) for over last 20 years. Her last day at AMS will be 30 September 2022.

FARZANA BANO ALI – NEW AP

Congratulations to Farzana for her appointment to the position of Assistant Principal at AMS replacing Ustadha Gulshad Khan. The school is very hopeful that Ustadha Farzana, with her qualifications and experiences, will surely help AMS’ move forward in its 21st century learning and teaching.

SECONDARY BOYS’ PRODUCTION

Merchants of Istanbul, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Merchants of Venice will be on coming Thursday, 8th Sept, at the Mangere Arts Centre from 6.30pm. Tickets are still on sale for $10 from school.

CLIMATE CHANGE YOUTH TALANOA/KORERO

Humaira Saheb, Mangere Youth MP, supported by Hon. Aupito William Sio, Mangere MP will participate in the above event on Mon 12 Sept 2022 from 4.00pm to 5.30pm at Mangere Arts Centre.  If you would like to attend, please register via email: Falesifa.mafi@parliment.govt.nz

BIKE PROGRAMME

Pedal Power (bike program) is taking place this term for years 3–8.  Students are learning and improving their cycling skills.

ATHLETICS

Athletics coaching is taking place this term for years 3-6 classes.

CROSS COUNTRY

Cross Country training starts for all years 1-6 students from next week. Students will need running shoes, hats and water bottles. They also need to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch. More details will be shared by Class teachers on DOJO.

SPRING SEASON

We are in spring now, but the weather is still cold, so students are expected to continue dressing for winter.

REMINDER: LATENESS

Some students are still coming late. Majority of these students are living in close by areas namely in Mangere and Papatoetoe. The School Dean and the LSC are following up with all late arrivals. These late comers will be put on “lunch time detention”. If lateness persists, it will be followed by “after school detention”.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR NCEA STUDENTS

NCEA TEACHER ONLY DAY (TOD)

The school will be closed for NCEA teacher only days on the following dates:

Monday 14th November

Thursday 01st December

NCEA END OF YEAR PRACTICE EXAMS

NCEA end of year (EoY) practice exams will take place from 21st to 30th September 2022. Timetable has been given to NCEA students.

13/09/22 – Yr 11 NCEA MCAT (Maths) Exam

27/10/22 – Yrs 11 – 13 Digital Technology 7/11/22 – 2/12/22 – Exam NCEA Exams

LEARNING AT HOME

It is at home that children learn to be honest, to be on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy, as well as show utmost respect for their elders and all teachers.

ATTENDANCE DUES

Those parents/caregivers who have still not paid the attendance dues, please pay the attendance dues for your child/children in full immediately.
